Hadath el Jebbeh History

Hadath El Jebbeh is one of the oldest villages in the mountains of Lebanon, located in Bsharre District, away 99 Km land area of 11.42 Km2, transcending a hill surrounded by valleys, is distinguished by a healthy climate and picturesque nature which made it a popular recovery destination.

The name “Hadath” goes back to the Semetic roots meaning new and colloquially known as Hadad. There are other denominations attributing Hadad to the God of Storm and winter and some believed that its temple exists under the church of Saint Daniel.

At the end of the thirteenth century, the region was destroyed by the Mamluk army; however, it got up, prospered and recovered its importance until the sixteenth century when Lebanon was dominated by the ottomans.
